Beauty of Friendship
We don't choose our friends because they're exactly like us.
We choose them because they're themselves.
Each stone in this piece was collected along the shores of Lake Huron. I chose them because they aren't alike. Each has its own shape, markings, fossils, scars and little imperfections.
Just like us.
Life shapes all of us differently. We change, we grow, and the experiences we've been through leave their marks. The friends who matter are the ones who have been there through those changes.
They've seen us at our best, and they've seen us when life wasn't quite so easy.
And they're still there.
The Beauty Is in the Differences
I love that these stones don't hide what has happened to them.
Their markings and imperfections are part of what makes them beautiful. They're proof that they've been shaped by time and experience.
The weathered Lake Huron driftwood beneath them tells the same story.
We don't have to be the same to belong together.
In fact, sometimes it's our differences that make a friendship special.
Make It Your Own
The original piece features a group of friends, but the idea can be customized.
Add additional friends to create a piece representing your own circle.
And if you're looking for the right words, I can help with that too. Sometimes a saying that means something to the group is what makes a piece truly personal.
