Love Grows

There is something beautiful about watching something you care for slowly come to life.

This one-of-a-kind piece captures a quiet moment of nurturing—a woman tending to a little flower, surrounded by natural materials that each bring their own character and story.

Her flowing skirt is made from a beautifully marked Lake Huron shale stone. The natural lines and markings run through the stone like folds in fabric, giving her skirt an almost effortless sense of movement.

Her arm is made from honeycomb coral (Favosites), a fossilized coral with a beautiful natural pattern. I love the unexpectedness of finding a piece of ancient ocean life in the middle of a garden scene.

Her hair is white—not because I needed to make it white, but because I found a stone whose natural colouring was perfect for it. To me, those silver-white tones add a subtle suggestion of wisdom, experience and a life well lived.

And then there is the rose.

The flower is an actual stone whose natural shape resembles delicate rose petals. I didn't carve it into a rose. It already knew what it wanted to be.

Beside her, a textured stone flower pot holds a tiny flower made from sea glass, adding a soft touch of colour and life to the scene.
