There is something about being on the water that makes the rest of the world feel a little quieter.

Peaceful Waters captures that feeling—a quiet moment in a kayak, surrounded by the stillness of nature and the simple pleasure of being exactly where you want to be.

The kayak and figure are created from naturally shaped stones and driftwood, handpicked from the shores of Lake Huron, Ontario. The stone chosen for her head has a beautiful natural profile that immediately suggested a woman looking out over the water.

I didn't carve or reshape it.

The stone already had the face. I just had to recognize it.

The natural shapes and textures of the materials give the piece a sense of movement while still capturing the peacefulness of being on calm water.

It's a piece for anyone who loves kayaking, canoeing, the outdoors, or simply that feeling of escaping for a little while and letting the water carry you.
